The background of the game is bright green with bubble-like darker shapes. Everything is kept in symbols and 2D, including the reel symbols. You will not find any fancy details or animations here, just three reels in light yellow frames over a simple, colorful background and that is it.

No frills, just a real game. The music is upbeat and pleasant, with additional sound effects and simple animations following each winning combination. It’s an honest and simple mix that’s quite efficient and enticing.

Fast Gaming

The quest for simplicity extends to the gameplay, which should allow players to get right into the action without having to figure out our complicated settings. These three simple steps should get you started.

First, set a coin value using the button in the top left corner of the screen – you can choose from 0.01 to 5 credits per coin. The second step is to activate some paylines with the side tabs on either side of the reel. There are only five possible paylines crossing the three reels, so the choice is easy. Third and final step, use the up and down arrows at the bottom of the game screen to choose how many coins to bet on each payline. Now that you have set your bet, hit the Spin button and hope for the best! Combinations of identical symbols on an active payline award a corresponding cash prize.

Ultra Fresh tries to live up to its advertised freshness, be it through its pop graphics and energetic music, or through the redesigned icons. And it is immediately apparent that it succeeds in terms of atmosphere. Sure, you have probably played games with fruits, stars and sevens on the reels, either online or in a land-based casino.

But Ultra Fresh still manages to bring something new and, well, refreshing to this familiar recipe. One could still argue that the developers did not go far enough in their process of recreating a classic. For example, there are still no special symbols or free spins and multipliers in Ultra Fresh, which might have been a more significant change in this particular genre of online slot games.

Impressive Graphics, but Not Much Originality
